Everything Water 4.0: The Role of Water in Shaping Our Future

New York, NY

Blank Rome Government Relations Principal Alan Rubin will present at the American Institute of Architects New York (“AIANY”) Everything Water 4.0: The Role of Water in Shaping Our Future event, taking place Saturday, October 21, 2017, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., at the Center for Architecture in New York, NY.

This day-long symposium will present a range of ideas from broad urban responses to water-related disasters to risk and security, creative interventions, and imagining solutions to future challenges. The speakers and panelists are architects, planners, scientists, mayors, nonprofit directors, writers, artists, and ecological innovators who can address these issues at local, regional, and global levels. The event will be opened with a keynote speech by Henk Ovink, Special Envoy for International Water Affairs, Kingdom of The Netherlands.

Mr. Rubin’s panel, “Security & Risk,” will run from 11:15 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. and will address the serious security issues and risks facing us as the result of climate change, sea level rise, and water shortages among other threats. This panel will present and discuss proactive approaches to working within new realities caused by climate change and changing relationships to water. Instead of focusing on responses, these speakers represent some of the proactive strategies that are gaining traction in the nascent field of resilience planning.
